An API globe valve is a steel globe valve built to API 623, the American Petroleum Institute standard for flanged and butt-weld globe valves. Flow passes through an S-shaped body and up through a seat ring, where a disc moves straight down to close it. Because the disc travel is proportional to flow, the valve can throttle steadily without damaging the seat, unlike a gate or ball valve. Trim is usually 13% chromium stainless with hard-faced seats.
Hamza Fasteners supplies API globe valves in WCB carbon steel from 2" to 12" in Class 150 and 300, with face-to-face to ASME B16.10 and flanges to ASME B16.5. They are used on steam headers, boiler feed, fuel oil heating, bypass lines around control valves and cooling water regulation. Larger sizes can be supplied with gear operators.
