A buttweld cross has four equal ends at right angles, all bevelled for butt welding. It brings two branches off a main line at the same point, which saves space on headers and manifolds compared with two tees. Like other B16.9 fittings it is formed with reinforcement at the junction and rated the same as straight pipe of its schedule and material.
We supply equal crosses from 1" to 8" in SCH 40 and SCH 80. They are used on fire and sprinkler ring mains, distribution manifolds, cooling water headers and fabricated structures. Because four welds meet in one fitting, careful fit-up and weld sequence matter. Each end is bevelled at 37.5° and the body is seamless for even wall.
