A street elbow, also called a service elbow, has a taper male thread on one end and a female thread on the other. It screws straight into a tee, valve, tank boss or another elbow without a nipple, which saves a joint and shortens the turn. In EN 10242 the 90 degree pattern is designated A4. Because the male end is cast integrally, the joint is compact and neat behind fixtures and inside cabinets.
