A stainless steel locknut runs on a parallel-threaded pipe and clamps against a surface rather than sealing on its own thread. On a tank, two locknuts with washers either side of the wall make a watertight bulkhead connection. On a long screw (connector) joint, the locknut is run back against a socket to compress a seal and lock the joint without turning the pipe.
We stock locknuts from 1/2" to 4" in SS 304 and SS 316 with BSP parallel (G) threads. They are used on water tanks, chemical IBC and vessel outlets, cooling tower connections and electrical conduit entries. Use 316 for seawater and aggressive chemicals.
