A flanged globe valve controls flow by moving a disc or plug onto a seat set across the body. The fluid changes direction inside the valve, which costs some pressure drop but gives smooth, repeatable throttling across the stroke. DIN-pattern valves of this type have bolted bonnets, rising stems and renewable seat rings, and are fitted with flanges drilled to EN 1092-1 PN16 so they bolt straight onto standard metric pipework.
