PVC pressure pipe differs from drainage pipe in wall thickness and rating: it is made to EN 1452 and marked with a PN class showing its working pressure in bar at 20°C. Joints are made with solvent cement in socketed ends, which sets quickly and needs no power tools. PVC is for cold water only. Its pressure capacity falls as temperature rises, so lines exposed to sun should be buried or shaded.
