Most branches in a PE network are smaller than the main they leave. A compression reducing tee handles that in one fitting: two run ends sized for the main and a smaller compression branch. On a 63 mm irrigation main it can drop a 32 mm zone line; on a 32 mm service it can feed a 20 mm tap. Compared with an equal tee plus a reducer, it removes a joint and shortens the assembly.
