Grooved elbows are cast in ductile iron with grooves on both ends matching the AWWA C606 profile used on the pipe. The usual pattern is a short-radius elbow, which keeps the fitting compact in tight plant rooms and ceiling voids. A coupling at each end completes the joint, so changes of direction can be assembled, adjusted and later dismantled for maintenance without cutting or welding.
