Type D is a camlock coupler with a female thread, made to screw onto a male pipe end, nipple or valve spigot. It turns a threaded pipe into a quick-release point that accepts any matching male adapter.

The Type D coupler has a camlock socket with cam arms and a gasket at the front and an internal female thread at the back. It is the coupler equivalent of a Type A: both screw onto male threads, but Type D receives the adapter instead of providing one. It is often used on pump outlets and pipe stubs where hoses are already fitted with Type E or where a Type F nipple is to be plugged in.
