CAF originally meant compressed asbestos fibre, and many engineers and purchasing lists still use the name for any compressed fibre jointing. Asbestos products are banned in the UAE, so the sheet we supply is asbestos-free compressed fibre, bound with nitrile or SBR rubber. It cuts easily with a knife or punch, holds its shape and seals water, oils, fuels, air and low-pressure steam on standard flanges.
