An inline brass check valve uses a poppet or disc held closed by a stainless steel spring. Forward flow compresses the spring and opens the valve, and as flow drops the spring pushes the disc back onto its seal before any reverse flow can build up. This quick closure stops the slam you sometimes get with swing checks and lets the valve be fitted in any orientation, including vertical downward flow.

They suit pump discharge lines, water heaters, booster sets, compressed air lines and anywhere space is tight.
