A forged 90 degree elbow with socket ends that turns a small-bore high pressure line through a right angle. Pipe slips into each socket and is fillet welded, giving a strong, leak-tight joint for oil, gas, steam and process service.

A socket weld 90° elbow is machined from a closed-die forging, so the grain flow follows the bend and the body carries far thicker walls than a butt-weld elbow of the same size. The pipe end sits in a counterbored socket, is backed off about 1.5 mm from the shoulder to allow for weld shrinkage, then fillet welded around the outside. Class 3000 bodies pair with Schedule 80 pipe and class 6000 with Schedule 160.
