A flat, hubless steel disc cut from plate and drilled to a standard bolt pattern. It slips over the pipe and is fillet welded, giving an economical joint for water, drainage, ducting and low pressure service.

A plate flange is a flat ring with no hub, profiled from steel plate, bored to suit the pipe and drilled to a standard bolt circle. In EN 1092-1 it is designated Type 01. The pipe passes into the bore and is fillet welded on both sides. Without a hub the flange is less stiff than a slip-on hubbed flange, so it is used for water, drainage, ventilation and other low pressure duties rather than high temperature or cyclic service.
