A brass angle valve of the globe type is a screw-down stop valve whose inlet enters from below and outlet leaves from the side. Turning the handwheel drives a threaded stem that presses a disc onto a seat inside the body, so the valve can shut off tightly or be set part open to regulate flow. Because the flow turns only once, an angle globe valve has lower pressure drop than a straight globe valve plus a separate elbow, and saves a joint.
