A non-asbestos gasket is made from compressed non-asbestos fibre (CNAF): aramid, glass or mineral fibres and fillers bound with NBR or SBR rubber, calendered into sheet. Cut to a ring that sits inside the bolt circle (an IBC or ring gasket), it seals raised-face flanges under bolt load. It has replaced asbestos jointing, which is banned in the UAE, and handles moderate pressures and temperatures with good creep resistance.
