The carbon steel tee is forged from ASTM A105 steel and machined with three female threaded ports. Forging gives a dense, tough body that carries far higher pressure than a malleable iron tee of the same size, which is why it is used on compressed air, hydraulic test, oil and steam service. Dimensions and ratings follow ASME B16.11 for threaded forged fittings.
