A slip-on flange has a bore slightly larger than the pipe OD, so the pipe slides into it and the flange is attached with two fillet welds, one at the hub and one inside the bore. Because the axial position can be adjusted before welding, alignment is far easier than with a weld neck. Its pressure capacity is roughly two-thirds of a weld neck of the same class, which is ample for most utility and process lines.
