The gasket sits in a groove in the bore of the female coupler. When the cam arms close, the adapter lip compresses it, sealing the joint. A swollen, cracked or flattened gasket is the most common cause of a leaking camlock, and replacing it takes seconds. Choosing the wrong compound causes the same problem quickly: NBR swells in some solvents, EPDM swells in oil, and both harden under high heat.
