Graphite gasket sheet is made by expanding natural graphite flakes and rolling them into a dense, flexible sheet with high carbon content and no binder to break down. It conforms to flange damage, seals with modest bolt load and keeps its properties over a wide temperature span. In air, oxidation limits continuous service to roughly 450 °C; in steam or inert conditions it can go higher. Plain sheet is fragile, so SS 316 tanged or flat foil inserts are added for handling and blow-out resistance.
Hamza Fasteners supplies graphite sheet in plain and reinforced grades, 0.5 to 3 mm, and cuts ring or full-face gaskets to ASME or PN sizes. It suits steam, thermal oil, heat exchangers and hydrocarbon service, and is a common upgrade where rubber-bound fibre gaskets harden and leak after repeated heat cycles.
