A threaded reducing coupler steps a screwed line down or up by one or more sizes. The body is forged with a taper between the two tapped ends, which keeps the flow transition smooth and the wall heavy enough for B16.11 class ratings. Compared with a coupling and bushing, it removes one threaded joint and one possible leak path, which matters on vibrating pumps, compressors and hydraulic packs.
