A threadolet is a forged olet with a contoured base for welding to the header and a female NPT outlet tapped to ASME B1.20.1. It is made to MSS SP-97 in class 3000 and 6000, chosen according to header schedule. Where a threaded half coupling depends on a fillet weld, the threadolet uses a full penetration groove weld and integral reinforcement, so it is the accepted fitting for instrument and vent connections on process piping.
